Terms & CONDITIONS

  • INSTRUCTORS: The skipper’s/instructor’s decisions must be accepted as final in all matters, as he is responsible for your safety for the duration of the day.
  • SEASICK TABLETS: Should be supplied by pupils; refer to your doctor.
  • NO SMOKING is allowed on board. It is regarded as a dangerous hazard at sea and in port.
  • SAILING SHOES: Correct sailing shoes including takkies (Tomy takkies) or other non-mark rubber soled shoes are recommended; alternatively, you may go bare feet. Please do not step aboard with shore-shoes as the grit can ruin the gel coat of the vessel.
  • ACCOUNTABILITY: You will be responsible for the loss or damage of any gear or equipment as a result of your conduct or negligence and be expected to replace the item – as an individual or group, depending on the circumstances. We do ask that no one messes around with ANY gear or equipment on board after hours (and when instructors are not present).
  • ON RETURNING: You as crew are responsible for the “Yacht clean-up”. This entails getting everything off the yacht and leaving it ship-shape as found.
  • DRUGS: under no circumstances will any student be allowed to continue on any course should he/she be found to be involved with or be in possession of / or be connected to banned substances/drugs. Any student caught will be dismissed immediately and no refunds at all on course fees or any exam fees / manuals / day one hire fees / visa fees etc. Drugs on a crew member may lead to arrest of this person, the crew, and the vessel. The instructor will then be held accountable and in addition to losing his vessel, will lose his license and ticket and therefore his position and job. Any crew member finding another crew member with drugs is duty bound to report this. Failure to do so can lead to dire consequences for all on board.
