Description

Target Audience

• For all sailing enthusiasts who wish to earn their sailing qualification to allow them to skipper their own vessel or chartered vessel.

Duration

• 9 days
  • 3-day Yacht Crew course
  • 6-day Day Skipper course

Requirements

• None or limited sailing experience

Course Details

• Combination of Yacht Hand and Day Skipper modules
• Yacht Hand module runs for the first 3 days, followed by the Day Skipper module
• Daily lectures and sailing sessions, including night approaches
• Curriculum covers sea terms, sails, rope work, safety at sea, navigation techniques, and more
• Emphasis on advanced navigation and leadership roles
• Preparation for SA Sailing Day Skipper Exam with Offshore Sailing Academy

Certificate

• SA Sailing Day Skipper’s Ticket Category C
• International Certificate of Competence (ICC)

Additional Info

• Note: Option to complete the course in modules for those unable to attend full-time.
• Short Range Certificate,  SRC radio License from SAMSA (proof of successful completion necessary to satisfy SA Sailing for issuing of Skipper’s ticket)
